Since founding Networkfour in 2008, Gary Wickr has been a force for good across Birmingham reaching over 71,750 vulnerable children, young people, adults and crisis-hit families with a lifeline of pastoral care, practical support and hope. Rooted in his unwavering Christian faith, Gary leads from the front, crafting hope-filled strategy and projects by day, walking the city streets at night.

His passion birthed the Birmingham Pastors initiative, seeing teams of trained volunteers offering practical frontline support in both the daytime and night-time economy. Under Gary’s leadership, thy have delivered over 197,000 volunteer hours in six years and, in 2024 alone, achieved 12,609 first-aid interventions, 41 missing children safeguarded and 257 domestic abuse victims supported.

Gary’s hands-on mentoring has equipped hundreds, many with no previous experience, to become community changemakers. His street level partnerships with all the emergency services, club staff and businesses tackle crises at their core reducing anti-social behaviour and increasing public safety.

More than a charity leader, Gary is creating a movement training some 345 university Social Impact Interns, many now serving in policing, social care and emergency response. His aim is to see a city transformed by faith-driven action, compassion in motion, a city rebuilt through love and leadership.

Volunteers: We Need You

We depend almost entirely on the kindness and commitment of our volunteers. The Birmingham Pastors project particularly is built on volunteering by the good people from faith groups, students, retired folks or anyone (over 18 years old) with a heart for the vulnerable who can commit to at least one four-hour shift per month.
