Volunteering with Networkfour

We depend almost entirely on the kindness and commitment of our volunteers. The Birmingham Pastors project particularly is built on volunteering constituting a street care team based in and around the city centre offering pastoral care to those in need.

  • Register with us (an online volunteer management system called Better Impact).
  • Attend an ‘Orientation shift’ as part of an experienced patrol.
  • Undergo a probationary period (basic training, always accompanied by an Accepted Patrol Leader, references taken up).
  • Progress to ‘Accepted’ on successful completion of the probationary period.

‘Casework Pastors or Lifelinefour Life-trainers’ will generally follow the same route but with a shorter probation period and an Enhanced DBS check completed in the first few weeks before engaging individually with service users.
